Directions to Parks Mill

Parks Mill is an authentic, eighteenth-century, water-powered, grist mill which has continued operating on Fifteen Mile Creek in Washington County, Virginia for over 200 years.

Built around 1780 by Oliver Alexander, the original mill was used to produce stone-ground corn meal, oat and wheat flours.

The Parks family purchased the original mill in 1806 and operated it until 1942, when they sold it to Jasper Brown. First Brown, and then his son, Dave, operated the mill commercially into the 1980's.

Continuing the mill's long tradition, the current owners and millers offer freshly-milled corn meal, grits and other wholesome products still produced by the same time-honored, water-powered process used now for more than 220 years at Parks Mill.

Come join us for an hour or an entire day in a relaxing country setting on the banks of Fifteen Mile Creek at Parks Mill.

"Rock out" in a hand-crafted rocking chair, available from Parks Creek Wood Products and displayed for sale on our big porch overlooking Parks Mill and its beautiful grounds.

Enjoy some mouth-watering, hickory-smoked, North-Carolina style barbecue, smoked daily, with a side of homemade barbecue beans and coleslaw. Finish your meal with some hand-dipped ice cream while you listen to the sound of water flowing smoothly over the mill's water wheel.

Stroll a path along the serene banks of Fifteen Mile Creek as you enjoy an up-close view of an authentic eighteenth-century grist mill as it has operated for more than a century. Then take home some freshly ground corn meal, or grits, with which to remember and savor your visit to Parks Mill.
